Vodafone announces charitable initiative

Vodafone has announced a new competition that will help a number of people to achieve their dream of working for charity.

As part of its World of Difference UK programme, the network said this week that it would be selecting 500 applicants to take part in paid employment for the cause of their choice.

It was asked that entrants prove their dedication to the initiative as it would only be those who could display "passion, drive and commitment" that would be selected for the campaign.

The lucky winners will not only be offered the opportunity to give something back to their chosen organisations, but will see the Vodafone Foundation offer a £2,500 donation to the charity.

Applicants will also receive a mobile phone from the carrier with prepaid credit, which they can use to share their experiences and encourage others to get involved.

Andrew Dunnett, director of the Vodafone Foundation, said: "World of Difference UK gives people who want to donate themselves - and get paid - the chance to put that passion into practice."

The network's current exclusives include the BlackBerry Storm and the HTC Magic.
