A new report has been published which lists one mobile phone manufacturer above all others in terms of eco-friendliness.
The Dow Jones Sustainabilty Index 2009/10 highlighted Nokia as the most socially-responsible technology company in the world.
With models including the E71, N97 and 5800 XpressMusic in its range, the Finnish manufacturer has a number of smartphones and audio-focused devices which could interest shoppers.
However, this new green accolade may also help it attract more fans and a spokesman for the firm welcomed the announcement as something reflective of the group's overall attitude.
Rick Simonson, Nokia's executive vice-president and chief financial officer, said: "Acting responsibly is not only the right thing to do - it is also undoubtedly the best thing for our business," he added.
In addition, the manufacturer has a number of entry-level handsets available that it claims boast particular eco-focused traits - such as the 3110 Evolve, which is designed to be energy efficient and is built from 80 per cent recyclable components.
How important are the green credentials of a mobile?
