A company involved in mobile payment technology has announced new investment from Nokia.
Obopay has revealed a partnership with the Finnish manufacturer - which in the past has been involved in the development of Near Field Communications systems - that will benefit future operations.
The group said the Nokia funding was a "resounding endorsement" of its recent achievements in bringing mobile payments to the mainstream handset market.
Carol Realini, chief executive of Obopay, commented: "Given Nokia's position as the leader in mobile communications, we could not have asked for a better investor."
The Finnish firm's vice-president and head of corporate business development was also recently unveiled as the latest member of Obopay's board of directors.
Near Field Communications is a technology that allows mobile phones to wirelessly connect to other devices at close range - making it ideal for payments and ticketing.
Do you think paying with a mobile will take off?
