BBC optimises mobile website

The BBC has relaunched its beta site for mobile phones with a number of adaptable options.

It is reported that the new resource has been optimised so that users can select exactly what they do and do not want to be able to see on the page when accessing from their handset.

According to the broadcaster, this means more localised news, weather reports and sport as well as a number of other enhancements it believes will be of interest to many.

"The new mobile site adapts automatically to give the best viewing experience for different handsets and networks," the group said in a statement.

A number of Nokia handsets also provide access to the BBC's iPlayer service, an online resource where programmes can be streamed and watched for a period of time after they have originally aired on TV.

One such model is the N96, which features in the Finnish manufacturers N-series range.

Is access to BBC iPlayer a tempting feature for a phone?
