Green phone range launched by Sony Ericsson

Sony Ericsson has launched a new green range of gadgets and renewed its commitment to being more environmentally friendly.

The mobile phone manufacturer outlined new targets for reducing carbon emissions levels and also took the opportunity to unveil details of two new models and an accompanying Bluetooth headset.

It is hoped the Greenheart range, which includes the Sony Ericsson C901, Naite and MH300 wireless earpiece will prove popular with consumers who have a green agenda.

Dick Komiyama, president of the Sony Ericsson, said by issuing new plans to cut carbon levels, the firm was moving towards a more sustainable future.

"We have implemented a full life-cycle approach to sustainability in order to build phones with a green core as well as reducing CO2 emissions from the product in use and ensuring sustainable end-of-life treatment," he explained.

Other green handsets that may interest buyers include the Motorola Renew - which is partially made from recycled plastic bottles.
