Latest mobiles 'fulfil demands for gadgetry'

Consumers are increasingly demanding mobile phones that boast as many of the latest technologies as possible, one expert has commented.

A spokesman for Mobile Europe, an online publication which focuses on developments in wireless communication across the continent, said the most recent devices are answering to a massive desire for power and capability.

Keith Dyer, editor at the website, said the Apple iPhone 3G S was just one example of a handset that boasted high-performance computing technology, with 256 MB of RAM memory and a 600 MHz processor.

He added this clearly shows that with every new release, manufacturers are pushing ahead with developments that cater to increased demand.

"It may be only a matter of time until all those who want [cloud-enabled] handsets have them, but it is likely to be a long time," he concluded.

His comments follow the publication of a study from Data Development Worldwide which showed 40 per cent of people prefer a mobile phone with access to as many different types of content as possible.
