Bank enhances secure mobile services

Barclays has announced the launch of new services for its customers with mobile phones.

The bank is offering free security software from Kaspersky to aid them with their online banking when using handsets and other web-enabled devices.

It is reported that the move will coincide with a revamped version of the Barclays.mobi website, which is also the place mobile phone users should head if they wish to take advantage of the Kaspersky offer.

The new version of the website aims to be easier when used with handsets and should offer better access to account balances, statements and transfers.

Sean Gilchrist, director for electronic banking for the group, said: "It's important that customers protect their mobile phones in the same way they do their computers from all threats, by downloading this new software."

A number of cash machines - including those run by Barclays - allow consumers with pay-as-you-go mobile phones to top-up with credit.
