Vodafone competition boosts Magic launch

The launch of the new HTC Magic has been boosted by a new competition from Vodafone.

In a bid to highlight the many benefits of its onboard software, the network is asking consumers what type of applications they would like to see running on the device.

The most innovative and interesting idea will be rewarded with a HTC Magic and £1,000, while ten runners up will also receive a handset of their own.

Vodafone announced the launch of the model earlier this year as a network exclusive. It is the third device to offer Google's Android operating system, following the T Mobile G1 and HTC Hero.

"The [Magic] is known for its wide array of impressive Android apps," the firm explained, adding: "Your application could be the next big thing for mobile phone users the world over."

Applicants have been challenged to get their thinking caps on quickly and get their entries in ahead of the September 20th closing date.
