High flying combat for iPhone users

Apple iPhone 3G users have been offered the opportunity to test out their dogfighting skills in a new flight simulation game reviewed by Pocket Gamer this week.

The site's Keith Andrew looked at Metal Sun - one of the latest titles to be put out for the platform by developers Silver Machine - and said players can expect "pure arcade combat".

He noted the main aim of the game is points-based and although there is very little interaction with the actual aliens which form the enemy threat for your pilot, there is some tricky gameplay on offer.

"Most of your time will be spent dogfighting. Strange ships that seem to hover in the skies are your main targets. Harder still are the metal suns and satellites that need to be taken down in order to level up," Mr Andrew explained.

However, he concluded that Metal Sun was not a title that felt entirely "polished" enough, which may cause Apple iPhone 3G users to look elsewhere.

One alternative might be Aerobatic Hero, which the site looked at earlier this year.
