Hero price 'helps it challenge iPhone'

The HTC Hero has been described as a great phone that makes the most of its operating system (OS) and is available at a decent price.
In an article for Trusted Reviews this week, Niall Magennis looked at the latest phone to come equipped with the Google Android OS and noted software improvements means it can now compete with the Apple iPhone 3G S.
However, he explained the latter device still has the slicker user interface as well as the benefits that come with its creator's online App Store facility.
But despite this, he concludes that HTC has been able to build on the successes of its OS since the launch of the T Mobile G1 and when it comes to cost, the Apple handset now has a true challenger.
"The Hero shows that [Android is] now fully up to speed. Make no mistake, the Hero really is a fabulous phone and its price is very attractive compared to the expensive iPhone," Mr Magennis concluded.
Previous devices to come to the UK with the Google OS have been exclusive to individual operators, the most recent example of which was the introduction of the HTC Magic on Vodafone only.
Are you holding out for a Hero?
