Apple iPhone 3G: A phone for all types

The Apple iPhone 3G is clearly a handset that appeals to all kinds of users - not just "creative types", it has been suggested.

A Mobile Entertainment spokesman commented on the handset's popularity this week and said although made by a manufacturer that tends to be a hit with one particular demographic, it had succeeded across the board.

Tim Green, executive editor the monthly magazine, admitted that he had originally thought the iPhone would be for the same type of people that shop for its creators' line of home computers and laptops - but this had not been the case.

"I thought it would be the Mac of the mobile world - that a lot of graphic designers and creative types would buy it," he added. "But looking around the office […] probably more than half the people here have iPhones now."

Strategy Analytics revealed last month that Apple shipped around 5.2 million of the gadgets between April and June.
