O2 iPhone users to use Wi-Fi at Starbucks

O2A new development will enable users of the O2Apple iPhone to access the internet via Wi-Fi at Starbucks coffeehouses.

BT has announced it will supply this connectivity to 650 of the group's stores throughout the UK and Ireland.

According to the chief executive officer of BT Openzone Chris Bruce, Starbucks is an ideal location to do some work or catch up with emails - so accessing the internet while enjoying a beverage is a potentially popular activity.

"Use of our Wi-Fi doubled last year and coffee shops are increasingly popular as a third place to work or log on to the internet," he added.

Some of the iPhone applications could be useful for consumers who can connect to the internet while on the go.

There are games such as iHunt 3D and Flick Fishing, as well as direct links to favourite sites such as Facebook and eBay. Certain apps can also help users find recommended restaurants and bars in their area.
