Sony Ericsson praised for green strategy
Posted: 6 October 2009
Sony Ericsson has been singled out for praise in a new report looking at sustainable manufacturing processes.
In a study entitled Greening Consumer Electronics: Moving Away from Bromine and Chlorine, the firm was analysed alongside a number of others, which had all made moves to lessen their impact on the planet.
Initiatives including those that resulted in the C901 GreenHeart, Naite and MH300 headset were noted and a spokesman for the firm said it was proud to be part of the ChemSec and Clean Production Action survey.
Company head of sustainability Mats Pellback Scharp explained the paper was a way of recognising innovation in the field.
"Building on the established heritage of our parent companies, Sony Ericsson has worked continuously to become an industry leader in the area of removing harmful substances from the core of its phones," he added.
The C901, Naite and MH300 headset were announced in June as part of the GreenHeart range.
