Wi-Fi inclusion 'boosts Walkman range'

By incorporating wireless web technology into one of its new music-focused models, Sony Ericsson has helped boost its branded mobile phones, it has been claimed.
Richard Knight writes in an article for Pocket-lint that the manufacturer could not be accused of allowing the Walkman marque to rest on its laurels and this can be seen in the W705 model.
He notes by including Wi-Fi, Sony Ericsson has made a smart move that will benefit the line of devices - which centre on audio playback, although he does highlight the lack of a standard headphone socket as something of a drawback.
The W705 Walkman device is clearly "a phone worthy of your attention", Mr Knight explains, adding as the first Wi-Fi-powered sliding model, it should be seen as "a good inclusion" in the range.
"There's a decent enough battery life too, with four hours of talking or 350 hours of standby," he concludes.
Sony Ericsson's Walkman line up also includes the W302, W890, W850i and W715.
HAve you ever owned a Walkman phone?
