Vodafone abolishes roaming rates
Posted: 14 May 2009
Vodafone is attempting to give its mobile phone customers better value for money by abolishing roaming charges this summer.
From June 1st, those on the network will be able to text, call and send picture messages for the same price they would pay at home.
To take part in the offer, which is due to last until the end of August, customers join the Vodafone Passport scheme.
In addition, people using the company's pay as you go tariffs will find that from tomorrow (May 15th) they pay less for calls made from the UK to abroad.
Ian Shepherd is the consumer director for Vodafone and said it was a "deliberate" move to launch this campaign when people are starting to take their summer breaks.
"We are really excited to see how this picks up and we have millions of customers already in the UK," he added. "Both our consumer customers and business customers can take advantage of this."
Vodafone estimates that it currently has 186.6 proportionate customers.
What do you think of Vodafone's offer?
