Slim Nokia focuses on text and email

NokiaNokia has launched a new smartphone that it claims is the slimmest of its type.

Equipped with a full qwerty keyboard, as well as 3G connectivity and Wi-Fi, the E71x handset is a smartphone the manufacturer claims addresses the need for more text-focused mobile phones.

The firm adds users will also be able to utilise their favourite functions with a 3.2-megapixel camera, access to social networking sites and an integrated media player.

However, particular attention is paid to the phone's capacity as a text communicator - following research that suggests many people prefer to get in touch this way.

Nokia spokesman David Petts comments: "The trend for messaging, whether email, IM, texting or social networking, is stronger than ever - we are seeing a real shift in the way people prefer to communicate."

The Finnish manufacturer's original E71 is available on a host of contract options and comes in black, grey and white.
