Orange unveils festival-friendly charger

Orange has unveiled a new mobile phone charger it believes could be ideal for festival-goers.

The network has been showing off its latest prototype - which goes by the name of the Power Pump - which generates energy for handsets with the power of the human foot.

Users simply step on the pedal and pump away and the movement is then turned into electricity which is then directed to the attached mobile phone.

Built by GotWind, it is hoped the gadget will prove popular when it is showcased at the Glastonbury Festival this year, where visitors will be able to give the system a try.

Dave Pain, managing director of the manufacturer, said: "GotWind have worked with Orange for a third year to create yet another groundbreaking festival accessory that is sure to become a must have when packing your rucksack."

This year's Glastonbury Festival is taking place between June 24th and 28th and is set to feature acts including Bruce Springsteen, Blur and Neil Young.
