Nokia partners to create 'future trust in digital services'

NokiaNokia has announced a new partnership with Microsoft, Philips and Gemalto that aims to look at the road ahead for digital technology and communications.

The companies used the Future of the Internet conference in Prague this week to reveal details of the initiative, which will focus on the possibilities of emerging services and how trust can be used to develop "a common vision".

It is hoped that the Trust in Digital Life deal will lead to better products for consumers in the field of telecommunications, commerce, healthcare, and administration.

Erkki Ormala, vice-president of technology and trade policy at Nokia, said it was essential for organisations to work together to make the most of future digital innovations.

"Nokia believes that through active and open collaboration with different parties we will achieve the trustworthiness we seek. Trust cannot be defined by a single party," he explained.

Last week, the senior vice-president and chief information officer (CIO) of the firm, was announced as Finnish CIO of the Year 2009.

How do you think this will affect Nokia's handsets?
