Mobile technology 'makes flexible working easier'

The affordability of modern technology is widening the possibilities for working away from the office, it has been advised.

With more networks offering cheap mobile phones and wireless broadband packages, a spokesman for Aastra Technologies has said businesses are seeing the benefits of more flexible working.

Mike Ballantine, business development manager of the Canada-based global enterprise communication company, explained it was now simpler and more cost-effective than ever to offer mobile working facilities to employees.

"There are various methods of getting that connectivity," he added. "There's lots of technology out there now which makes it much, much easier to deploy a sensible and cost effective solution for people."

A recent report published by Aastra highlighted remote working as capable of playing a vital role in business contingency plans.

It was also noted that video conferencing, mobile broadband and telephone communications could reduce costs and improve staff morale and retention.
