Expert advises: Music is key to mobile

Nokia believes the music download market is an important part of the current mobile phones sector.

According to a spokesman for the Finnish manufacturer, the decision to enter a partnership with the Orange network to offer an exclusive version of the 5800 XpressMusic was based on a shared view of the topic.

Mark Loughran, managing director of the group in the UK, said the new package - which includes access to the firm's Comes With Music download service - showed that audio downloads were now "key to both Orange and Nokia".

"The ability to download all the music you love, free and legally from the Nokia Music Store on a great choice of Orange price plans will change music forever," he added.

However, the new 5800 is not the only exclusive handset the network has recently announced. Earlier this month, it said it would make a matt black version of the HTC Touch available to its business subscribers.
