Vodafone rolls out DRM-free music catalogue

VodafoneVodafone has announced changes to its online mobile music facilities that could be of interest to shoppers.

The network has made around 350,000 tracks available that come free from the Digital Rights Management software that restricts them to being transferred to other devices - such as PCs, laptops and mp3 players.

In addition, the carrier has announced the number of songs that will be encoded in this way will rise to one million "by the end of the summer".

Vodafone celebrated the move on June 5th with a day entitled Free Music Friday, where customers were not charged for downloading tunes - such as Lady GaGa's Poker Face, Daniel Merriweather's Change and the Style Of Eye remix of Lily Allen's Not Fair - to their mobile phones.

Shoppers looking for a device that uses Google's Android operating system may also like to consider the new HTC Magic - which is now exclusively available on the network in the UK.

Is this enough to tempt you away from your network?
