Sony Ericsson Satio: A true iPhone challenger?

With the recent launch of its latest models, one writer has asked if Sony Ericsson can topple the Apple iPhone 3G's popularity.

In an article for Phones Review this week, it is reported the launch of the former's Satio device has led to inevitable comparisons with the latter's status as an "iconic" gadget.

However, it is noted that although this is something that happens with "virtually every mobile phone" since the launch of the Apple iPhone, Sony Ericsson's latest may have some noteworthy advantages.

Cost is one such area where the Satio is likely to come out on top - and the 12-megapixel camera built-in to the device is significantly more high-tech than the two-megapixel shooter on its competitor.

"[The] downside with the Satio is that it doesn't support as many applications as the iPhone and the iPhone incorporates simplicity of use," it concludes.

Sony Ericsson launched the new handset last week alongside the Yari and the Aino.
