O2 shows off new remote technology

O2O2 has announced it will showcase the latest in mobile remote data technology at an industry event this week.

The network has integrated a Near Field Communications (NFC) system into a project called the ecoTECH Low Carbon Smart House - which is displayed at the INSITE09 conference this week.

Running until June 4th, the exhibition shows how modern technology can be used to help run households, with O2's contribution being particularly beneficial to people who require assisted living services.

By installing smart tags in the property, a patient can look at when their next visit is due and check other important dates.

"Call backs and appointments can also be requested quickly and easily by touching the patient's phone to an NFC tag. The patient can then select their preferred options from a drop down menu," O2 stated.

In addition, those in the healthcare industry can use the system to obtain patient data, records and care requirements.

O2's recently-launched Joggler aims to make household dates and chores more manageable with a series of integrated applications.
