Nokia N97 "a fantastic piece of hardware"

One of the most eagerly-anticipated handsets of the year has arrived, according to a new review.

In an article for Pocket-lint this week, Duncan Geere gets the chance to put the Nokia N97 through its paces and suggests the device is "a fantastic piece of hardware".

The screen is noted as one of the highlights of the device and he adds "near-infinite storage and more features than you can shake a stick at mean that this handset is among the most capable in the marketplace".

However, Mr Geere goes on to state that the Nokia N97 is somewhat let down by the integrated Symbian operating system, which he says may struggle against competition from the Apple iPhone 3G and the T Mobile G1.

But in conclusion, he notes those who are familiar with the technology will not have an issue with this and the possibility of software updates could iron out the problems.

Nokia unveiled the N97 in Barcelona last December.
