Mobile YouTube uploading 'on the rise'

Nokia N97 WhiteMore people than ever are making the most of their mobile phones by uploading content to video sharing websites, it has been advised.

According to Google, the internet search engine that acquired the YouTube video portal in October 2006, the number of clips sent via handsets over the last six months has grown by 1,700 per cent.

The company said the influx of web and video recording-enabled gadgets into the market had played a big role in this, with the launch of the Apple iPhone 3G S also highlighted.

It was explained that since last Friday - when the gadget hit the shelves alongside the Nokia N97 and N86 - figures had been pushed up by 400 per cent.

Another reason for the increase was changes to YouTube that had allowed for faster, easier use.

"People can complete a simple, one-time connection on the upload page to allow all their friends and followers to get a real-time stream of their uploads to YouTube," Google explained.
