Java developers buoyed by Sony Ericsson

Developers are being given the opportunity to bring more Java-based content to 3G-enabled Sony Ericsson mobile phones.
The manufacturer announced this week it will be expanding its support of the platform in order to get software producers to bring a diverse and innovative new range of applications.
Among the new features developers could potentially add to Sony Ericsson's 3G handsets are games and organiser tools.
Rikko Sakaguchi, corporate vice-president and head of creation and development at the firm, said he was confident there would soon be a greater range of services that would strengthen the Java platform.
He added "exceptional user-experience and consistent performance" of the system meant this was something worth achieving.
Other devices in the Sony Ericsson range that boast 3G and Java facilities include the C905.
