New ad feature for 3 Mobile broadband users

Mobile broadband users signed up to the 3 network have been advised they will now have access to a new feature.

The dashboard facility will appear to the carrier's portable internet customers once their dongle is plugged in and will provide an advertising platform whereby they will be able to check out the latest products from a number of major brands.

It is estimated the new feature will be visible to over a million 3 Mobile web users and could generate more than 30 million impressions each month.

Already established in Australia via one of the firm's sister networks, the group is hoping the level of click-through success it has seen will be replicated in the UK.

Neil Andrews, head of advertising at 3 UK, said: "Our mobile broadband offering is seeing a huge amount of uptake. This new opportunity presents brands with the [chance] of getting in front of a large target audience."

Last month, the carrier announced what it claimed is Britain's lowest-priced EU roaming rates for mobile web data usage - at £1.25 per MB.
