The number of text messages sent during the new year's celebrations reached a record level this year for one network.
According to O2, between 07:30 GMT on New Year's Eve and the same time on January 1st, an estimated 166 million SMS messages were sent in total via its users' mobile phones and devices.
This equates to around 1,900 messages being sent every second on average - with around 16 million saved using O2's free Bluebook service.
Bluebook allows people on the network the ability to back up their phone numbers online as well as save all the text and photo messages they receive to their phone.
"O2 customers can also save the pictures taken with their camera phone in an online album and share them with friends," the network said of the web-based service.
Bluebook was announced in March 2008, alongside a £4.5 million marketing campaign.
