The BlackBerry Curve 8900 has been singled out for praise by a number of industry experts.
Following the announcement the device is to be made available to customers in India through Airtel, Reliance Communications and Vodafone, all three have stepped forward to highlight the benefits of the phone.
Sanjay Gupta, chief marketing officer of mobile services for Airtel, said the handset was a powerful and attractive model that was set to be popular with its existing customers.
In addition, Vodafone Essar's director of marketing and new business Harit Nagpal called the Curve 8900 smartphone a "compelling" offering - whereas Reliance president Mahesh Prasad focused more on overall BlackBerry use.
"Our
customers can enjoy the world class BlackBerry smartphone experience and enhanced productivity both at work and play with the new sleek and slim BlackBerry Curve," he said.
The BlackBerry Curve 8900 features a full qwerty keyboard, integrated Wi-Fi, 512MHz processor and 3.2-megapixel camera.
How does the BlackBerry stand up against other phones - such as the Xperia X1?
