O2 boosts customer service department

O2O2 has announced it is to boost its customer services division with the appointment of a new chairperson.

The network has unveiled Manchester Business School's John Murphy as its latest addition who will work with the company over a projected five-year period.

Professor Murphy will take the position of O2's chair of customer management and is expected to work in close proximity with the company's various departments to bring his knowledge to users of its services.

Cheryl Black, customer service director of Telefonica O2 UK, said the news would build on the work of the Manchester Business School in line with the carrier's existing strengths.

"This partnership absolutely underpins our whole strategy of winning in the marketplace through understanding customer needs and delivering a great customer experience," she said.

O2 recently unveiled plans for a new mobile device to be introduced in classrooms as an educational aid - named the Xda Flint.
