The BlackBerry Curve 8320 has received an honour at the Second Annual UMA Innovation Awards, taking home the gong for Smartphone in the Best Mobile Handset category.
Held at the Mobile World Congress 2009 in Barcelona, the ceremony involved an independent judging panel consisting of companies involved in 3GPP UMA technology, with the prize presented by Yves Tyrode, head of TechnoCentre at Orange/France.
Other finalists included the HTC Shadow and BlackBerry's 8120 and 8900 smartphones.
The Curve 8320's ability to switch between Wi-Fi and mobile networks was one of the features that contributed to its win.
Featuring a full qwerty keyboard, it can operate on Edge, GPRS and GSM cellular networks.
In other news, the Blackberry Storm Surepress Screen was a winner at the GSMA 14th Annual Global Mobile Awards.
The phone received the Best Mobile Technology honour.
Other winners at the awards were Nokia's Sports Tracker - which scooped top place in the Best Cellular Internet Service category - and Real Football 2009, made by Gameloft.
