New-look Blackberry 'mixes business with pleasure'

By making their leading wireless mobile device more fun, Research in Motion (RIM) has ensured that the Blackberry has grown to become a major player in the consumer market.

While the device was initially taken up by business users keen to keep in touch with the office while on the move, over the past couple of years, the Blackberry has become increasingly popular with non-corporate consumers.

In particular, the new Blackberry Bold 9700 has been hailed as the best yet by one Canadian technology expert.

Writing in the Globe and Mail newspaper, expert Oma El Akkad noted that, while the Bold 9700 boasts all the business capabilities of other models, such as the Blackberry 8520 Curve Black, it is significantly "sexier for the average consumer".

As the review concludes, the new Blackberry "mixes pleasure with business", with this likely to make the device even more popular with consumers over the coming months.

At the start of November, RIM launched the Blackberry Bold 9700 in Australia and New Zealand. Other models definitely worth a look include the Blackberry Curve 8900 - great for mobile email!
