HTC Magic announced by Vodafone

Vodafone customers could soon get their hands on the latest mobile phone to be powered by Google's Android operating system (OS).

The network has announced that the HTC Magic will go on sale from May 5th and the company has also set up a pre-order service at its online and high street retail stores.

It was revealed that the device will be available free on a £35 monthly tariff on a two-year contract. As part of this, users can expect to enjoy free mobile web access and texts - as well as 600 free minutes each month.

As well as the Android OS, the HTC Magic is equipped with equipped with a full touchscreen and qwerty keyboard, 3G support, Wi-Fi connectivity and a 3.2-megapixel camera.

The package will come with a 2GB memory card that adds to the phone's 500MB of internal memory storage.

HTC is the company that built the only other widely available Android-powered device - the T Mobile G1.
