BlackBerry Pearl Flip a "small, stylish smartphone"

The BlackBerry Pearl Flip is a mobile phone that combines design with functionality in a compact package, it has been suggested.

According to a spokeswoman for Alltel, a US telecommunications network based in Texas, the device has a number of qualities that make it an attractive option to users.

The firm's director of product management Angela Rittgers said plans to add the handset to its own line of products was based on the Pearl Flip's status as one of the "hot phones for spring".

She explained the model was a "small, stylish smartphone rich in multimedia coupled with the industry’s leading mobile email and messaging capabilities" and would be a big hit with Alltel's customers.

In the UK, the device is available on a number of pay monthly deals from Orange and is the first BlackBerry from Research In Motion that comes in flip form.
