Carphonewarehouse 'could demerge' TalkTalk
Posted: 17 November 2008
Mobile phone retailer Carphonewarehouse may decide to divide from TalkTalk, according to widespread reports.
TalkTalk is the company's mobile broadband and calls business and has been part of Carphonewarehouse Group since 1989.
Media reports suggest chief executive Charles Dunstone will announce the division later this week and also the news that he will remain on the boards of both companies.
However, the group has not made an official statement and has refused to comment to newspaper speculation about the split.
The announcement is likely to be during the group's earnings presentation, which will be broadcast over the internet on November 18th, some sources suggest.
Mr Dunstone and chief financial officer Roger Taylor will both speak at the event, which begins at 09:00 GMT.
Carphonewarehouse is an independent retailer of mobile phones and services and operates more than 2,400 stores in nine countries.
TalkTalk contributes to more than half of the company's annual revenue, it stated on its website.
