BlackBerry and iPhone 'great for the future of gaming'

Innovations in the technological development of mobile phones have been great for those who love to play games, according to one expert.

A spokesman for eGaming Review, an online magazine which looks at the business end of the internet gaming market, said new handsets from BlackBerry as well as the Apple iPhone 3G were particularly good for the industry.

Jake Pollard, editor of the publication, said that such devices were able to harness the power of mobile broadband and this could soon be used for even easier access to portable gaming services.

"The iPhone and the Blackberry are the first mobile devices, really, to be able to harness broadband on the mobile and if more people have access ... that could help mobile gaming and betting," he said.

He added that there was a level of convenience involved in the connectivity of such handsets that needed to be addressed, but said the future of mobile gaming was strong.

Recent figures from Juniper Research showed that mobile betting now accounts for around 52 per cent of all wagers.
