Sony Ericsson's good new for gamers

Fans of gaming with mobile phones may be interested to hear that Sony Ericsson is making new plans for its handsets.

Pocket-lint reports that the manufacturer is in plans to develop technology that will allow users access to motion control gaming that could effectively work in the same way as the Nintendo Wii.

The site reports that the plans involve developing software that would allow the camera to double as a motion-controlling sensor and states that Sony Ericsson has already found a partner for the enterprise.

"Pocket-lint has learnt that the mobile phone giant has signed a deal with Californian company GestureTek to bring their software to Sony Ericsson's handsets in September," the site adds.

It is thought that the technology may work in the same way as the PlayStation 2's EyeToy device and could be rolled out to older handsets as well.

Recently Nokia launched an improved version of its N-Gage gaming platform.
