Consumers are increasingly turning to mobile phones for web content thanks in part to the growth of social networking, a new report suggests.
SMS Text News reports that a new study put together by Opera claims that social networking has seen global growth and that it is now "the leading source of web traffic for mobile devices".
In addition to this, the report said web surfers with mobile phones in the UK are ahead of everyone else in the world when it comes to mobile e-mail - with over 11 per cent of traffic in the first quarter of the year accounting for the services.
Facebook took the title of most visited on the UK mobile web, followed by Google, Live.com, Bebo, Mocospace.com, BBC News, Yahoo!, itsmy.com, Faceparty and eBay.
Opera also took the opportunity to note that its Opera Mini operating system was "the most used mobile browser out there", the site noted.
According to the Inquirer, Opera Mini claims to have been installed by over 44 million during March.
