Orange could be about to become the pioneers of TV content on mobile phones, a new article suggests.
According to UKPS Mobile Phone News, Orange has been successful with applications to run its Orange Sports TV channel in France and the DVB-powered service could lead to more services being offered.
It states that having won over the French regulator last year, Orange will become the first network to offer broadcast sports TV services of this type and adds that this could also have an effect on the cost of a range of handsets.
"It will be interesting to see if the availability of Mobile TV will arrest the decline of 3G higher priced mobile phones and smartphones such as the Nokia N95 that Europe is experiencing," the site
The site concludes that currently Orange is looking to offer its TV for mobile phones to around six million users.
