Omnia Vs iPhone: fight!
Posted: 11 June 2008
In a week that saw Apple announce its long-awaited 3G iPhone - and Samsung hit back with its Omnia, a new article has compared the two.
Mobile Gazette states it is clear that Samsung's Omnia, or SGH-i900 as it is also known, is targeting the new Apple offering and states both look feature-packed.
The review notes the Omnia is "one of the most feature-rich handsets that we have ever seen" and notes that it combines Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional and Samsung's TouchWiz interface, but loses out to the iPhone's 2.0 platform.
It adds the display on both handsets stand up well, but suggests those looking for a decent camera should consider the Samsung's "significantly better" offering.
For GPS, Wi-Fi and styling the site argues Apple is likely to come out on top but notes that for multimedia and memory the Omnia scores better - leaving both phones in a tie.
"Our gut feeling is that we'd prefer the Samsung Omnia over the Apple iPhone 3G, but it really is just a matter of taste," the article concludes.
The Omnia follows Samsung's recent trend for giving phones a more memorable name, recently the Soul was given a major launch and the company is soon to put out the Instinct.
