O2 is to broaden its mobile internet offerings following a deal with BT Openzone, according to reports.
Mobile Choice UK states today that the network has entered into the partnership with BT that will offer users of the newly-announced 3G Apple iPhone unlimited access to more than 3,000 Wi-Fi hotspots.
It is also noted that the deal will be launched on July 11th - the same day as Apple's eagerly-anticipated handset is unleashed - and will extend to O2 customers with Wi-Fi enabled mobile phones.
"All iPhone users, be it the standard or 3G version, will receive unlimited access to these public Wi-Fi hotspots as part of their monthly tariff for no extra cost, though each tariff will be subject to an excessive use policy," the site adds.
Other O2 customers will be offered fast and affordable Wi-Fi access automatically upon walking into Cloud and BT Openzone hotspots.
