A new memory card has been unveiled that could give users with compatible mobile phones more space to store their multimedia files.
The Inquirer reports that Sony has launched a new micro m2 card that is capable of storing up to 8GB of files and will be available to consumers at around £59.
However, it is noted that initially the number of mobile phones that will support the new card will be limited to one - the Sony Ericsson C902.
"Upgrading a Sony Ericsson mobile with the new m2 card will give customers a choice of over 5,000 fine quality 5 megapixel photos, over 2000 MP3 songs or over 88 hours of high quality mpeg4 video," Sony reportedly said in a statement.
Earlier this year, Sandisk revealed that they too were about to launch an 8GB memory card and the website adds that HTC is one manufacturer that supports this level of storage.
The Sony Ericsson C902 is the manufacturer's latest CyberShot model and is equipped with a five-megapixel camera.
