Virgin Mobile offers Live Messenger for free
Posted: 9 December 2008
Virgin Mobile has announced that it will include free access to Windows Live Messenger (WLM) on a number of tariffs.
The network states that it will now offer WLM for an initial cost-free period of six months on compatible mobile phones for both its contracted and pay-as-you-go customers.
Claiming that the service will work in the same way as it does for PC and laptop users, Virgin Mobile says the ability to send instant messages means users can have all of their friends at their fingertips.
"You can hook up with anyone, anywhere, anytime," it adds. "And the best thing is - it's totally free."
The company also recently announced that from December 8th, its customers can sign up to a mobile broadband service that costs 30p per day, which it points out is "cheaper than a bag of crisps".
Windows Live Messenger has been available as an online PC-based service for many years and allows web users to talk to one another via text.
