'Flagship Walkman phone' put to the test
Posted: 29 August 2008
Sony Ericsson has launched a new handset that is clearly the jewel in the company's crown of Walkman mobile phones, it has been suggested.
Trusted Reviews reports the Sony Ericsson W890i is undoubtedly the "current flagship Walkman handset" and adds that this is clear from the inclusion of an 8GB internal memory.
It states that the phone is "designed to meet the needs of the mobile music fan who doesn't want to carry a separate player but who does want plenty of music at their disposal".
The W980i is equipped with Sony Ericsson's shake control system, an FM radio, a 2.2-inch, 320 x 240 pixel colour screen and Bluetooth connectivity.
In addition, the phone can be hooked up to a PC via a USB port and a 3.2-megapixel camera is also included, though the site points out "there is no flash or self-portrait mirror".
Sony Ericsson's new W580 was highlighted as one for mobile phone gamers in a new review for the Pocket Gamer website.
