O2 is the latest provider of mobile phones to move into the mobile broadband sector, according to reports.
Vnunet.com has confirmed today that the company will now offer a range of wireless internet services giving consumers access to mobile broadband using a USB memory stick modem.
It is reported that this modem will automatically connect to the fastest network available via Wi-Fi, 3G, GPRS, EDGE and HSDPA and current O2 customers will be able to take advantage of a £20 per month package.
Users will have their mobile broadband allowance capped to 3GB and will be warned via text message when they have reached the 2GB stage.
"O2 said that it wants to offer customers a complete broadband experience not by being first to market, but by making sure that the service meets customer expectations," the website notes.
The company becomes the latest UK network to offer mobile broadband services, joining Vodafone, 3, T Mobile and Orange.
