Following the success of the Apple iPhone, a number of mobile phones are on the way that will emulate the handsets touchscreen technology, it has emerged.
According to the Chicago Tribune, a number of mobile phones will be on offer to UK customers next year that bear more than a passing resemblance to the iPhone, which was one of the biggest selling consumer gadgets of 2007.
This week's CTIA Wireless conference in Las Vegas was an opportunity for manufacturers such as Samsung, LG, Motorola and Sony Ericsson to peddle their latest wares and according to one expert it was clear where much of the inspiration had come from.
Michael Gartenberg, handset analyst at JupiterResearch, said that despite the iPhone and iPod creator having no presence at the event, it was still casting a "super-big shadow over an event where it's not even taking part".
Samsung's Instinct phone and LG's Vu both utilise touchscreen technology and were on display at the event and the website adds that Motorola's Z9 and Sony Ericsson's clamshell Z750a were also notable for their innovative design.
Tech Radar reported earlier this week that a 3G version of the iPhone could be available sooner than previously expected.
