More details have emerged regarding Nokia's new 6212, which is equipped with the latest Near Field Communication (NFC) wireless technology.
According to Mobile News International, the new handset will connect with other devices that are NFC-enabled up to a distance of ten centimetres and that trials have begun to test the 6212.
It is reported that O2 is trialling its O2 Wallet service that will allow users of the mobile phones to access a range of services including ticketing, which subject to its success could be available by the end of 2008.
O2 Wallet is currently supported by Transport for London and Barclays - which could give some indication of where the NFC-enabled devices could be used.
"The 6212 classic also features a two-megapixel camera, mp3 player and expandable memory. It is expected to ship in Q3 for £160," the article notes.
Earlier this month, it was reported the 6212's NFC technology would allow users to benfit from a range of new services.
