Network operator 3 has announced that its customers will now be able to access a new music video service that is fully supported by advertising, it has emerged.
According to the company, customers will now be able to access a catalogue of music videos through their mobile phones by heading to 3's music homepage where the content can be streamed "at any time".
It is reported that the service will be powered by Rhythm NewMedia and is on offer as part of a partnership with Sony BMG Music Entertainment - and according to 3's UK head of on-portal advertising Neil Andrews, will expand on the networks existing services.
"We know that our customers want to receive high-quality content on their mobiles and that they're happy to view ads in order to receive it," he said. "We were the first to market with an ad-supported mobile video service and now we're building on that with the industry's first mobile music service."
Rhythm NewMedia will supply the targeted advertising that allows the service to remain free and mobile phone users will continue to be able to purchase products via links in the 3MusicStore.
