Mobile broadband is becoming increasingly popular and is now available at a number of different speeds and across a range of products, according to one group of experts.
According to research from the Global Mobile Suppliers Association (GMSA), there are currently around 637 different High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) devices on the market today as well as portable internet devices.
It was also reported that the number of suppliers of mobile broadband, such as BT, Vodafone and Orange, had seen a significant increase and access to speeds of up to 7.2mb were now available.
This week also saw mobile broadband 3 announce a 700 per cent rise in data traffic following the launch of its affordable service, according to the Register.
Kevin Russell, chief executive officer of the firm told the website that its success had appeared to have come "from nowhere" but added that consumers should not expect their wired services to be under threat any time soon.
