Mobile broadband is achieving the increase in numbers that the industry has long been hoping for, according to one panel of experts.
New figures from the GSM Association have revealed that across the planet the number of people hooking up a mobile broadband connection has grown by as much as ten times in the past year.
The group revealed that this week saw the number of connections reach 32 million - an increase of 29 million since March 2007 - and that this was down to a number of factors such as better speeds and more competitive prices.
Commenting on the milestone figure, chief executive officer of the GSM Association, Rob Conway, welcomed the public embracing of the new technology.
"The uptake of mobile services such as music and video downloads as well as internet access is rising in many countries as users are experiencing the benefits of high-speed mobile broadband," he said.
The site adds that the current deals available, such as T Mobile Web 'n' Walk as well as Vodafone's 3GB offering means that this trend could well continue.
